We’re here to help you understand your warranty

Equip your kitchen without slowing down.

Before you call your warranty provider, troubleshoot

All new equipment we sell at Budget Food Equipment comes with a manufacturer’s warranty.

Here are the steps you need to troubleshoot your equipment.

Sometimes the answer is easier than you expect. Follow these troubleshooting steps before you call for service:

Find Your Manual

Your manual will outline what IS and what ISN’T covered under your warranty, and it will help you will troubleshoot common problems. Warranties can be confusing, so read through this page for help.

Is the Power or Gas On?

Is the plug fully in the wall? Is the gas hose quick connect tight? Commercial buildings often have multiple power panels, so check them all.

Check Your Breaker

Once you’ve confirmed your machine is plugged in, check the power at the breaker. If your machine has no lights or sound, there’s a good chance your breaker has flipped.

Is There An Overload Switch?

Check your manual to see if your machine has an overload switch. Many kitchen appliances have a switch that will flip if it begins to overheat.

Have a Warm Cooler or Freezer?

Make sure the condenser is clean and clear of debris. Refrigeration units should be cleaned at least once a quarter and ignoring this maintenance could void your warranty.

If these steps don’t help, call your warranty provider.

When to Call Your Warranty Provider

After trying the troubleshooting steps above, please call your warranty provider directly.

Find out who to contact

Refer to your manual and your warranty for the correct contact information.

You must use the pre-authorized third-party repair shop recognized by your manufacturer.

  • Your business name, address and contact number
  • The make, model and serial number of the equipment
  • A copy of your invoice that shows the date of purchase
  • A deposit for the service call, in case the equipment issue is not covered by the warranty. (Another great reason to follow the troubleshooting steps above!)

Call the provider

Once you have all the information in step two, call your warranty service provider to get your equipment back up and running.

Equipment Maintenance Questions & Answers

With years of kitchen equipment experience, we know what not to do! Here are some answers to questions you might have.

Q. Can my buddy, brother-in-law or friend install my machine?

A: If they are factory-trained, ticketed and insured, you can absolutely get them to install your equipment. If they are not a trades professional you are taking a huge risk and potentially voiding your warranty by getting their assistance!

It’s important to use a qualified, ticketed and insured tradesperson — the price is worth it!

Q. The lights are on in my building so I must have power. Why doesn't my machine?
A: If your equipment has no power but your building does you still need to check the power panel. Commercial buildings usually have multiple power panels, so check them all.
Q. I'm just going to run a extension cord to my equipment. That's fine right?
A: NEVER use an extension cord with your commercial equipment. This will VOID your warranty and increase your risk of fire.
Q. My equipment overheated but I fixed it by flipping the overload switch. What should I do to prevent this from happening again?

A: A product that overheats and flips its overload switch is usually caused by a machine that isn’t cleaned properly or installed properly. You need to address the root cause or the machine will continue to fail. Find your service manual and make sure you’re following the recommended cleaning schedule. Also check the unit is installed correctly.

Q. How often should I clean my refrigeration unit?

A: Refrigeration appliances should be cleaned at least once a quarter. This will make sure your condenser is clean and clear of debris. Not cleaning your machine properly will cause line build up and block the airflow that keeps your components cool.

Q. Can I call Budget Food Equipment about my warranty?

A: The best person to call is your warranty provider. The contact information will be included in the warranty pack you received when you purchased the equipment.
